To the Editor:
I am writing in support of Sue Chalifoux Zephir for state senator of the Worcester & Middlesex District.
Three words reflect Sue’s qualifications for this position: Experience, knowledge and commitment.
Sue was elected to five terms on the Leominster City Council, serving as City Council president, chairwoman of the Finance Committee and chairwoman of the Committee on Schools. She has demonstrated her leadership ability, gaining an understanding of the challenges facing the cities and towns in our district.
Recognizing the legacy of Ginny White, Sue and her husband Ed assumed the responsibility for Ginny’s Helping Hand in Leominster, a nonprofit organization, which provides a food pantry in partnership with the Worcester County Food Bank. Through her work Sue has gained an understanding of challenges facing people in our area and is prepared to passionately advocate for their needs.
Volunteerism is an important part of Sue’s life. She served 12 years on the Board of Our Father’s House and 20 years as a Trustee of the Leominster Public Library, sharing her knowledge and talents with these important organizations. She also served on the Leominster Education Foundation, supporting teachers and classrooms. Addressing the issue of the inequity of the state’s commitment to public education is one of Sue’s primary goals.
Sue’s experience, knowledge and commitment speak volumes about how uniquely qualified she is to be elected our district’s next state senator. Please take the time to vote for Sue Chalifoux Zephir on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
